I grew up wanting to be just like my dad…an art teacher. As a young girl, my dad would bring me to his school where the smell of paint, clay and plaster were familiar and comforting. The art room was a fun, exciting place to be, both then and now. Like my dad, I have a passion for art and a love for children which can be realized daily in this very special career path. I have been working in the Lebanon School System since 1991, mostly at the high school. Two years ago I was given the opportunity of being shared staff and teaching at the elementary school as well as the high school. Since I had very little experience at this level, I approached this new position with a bit of trepidation. To my utmost surprise, I loved teaching the little children, and felt like I was part of a team including LES staff, parents, and a very supportive principal. I know now that your dream job can start at any time in your life and change can be revitalizing and can make you grow in so many different ways. I start every day, just like my dad, happy to be a teacher, surrounded by young learners, excited to be in the art room…full of wonderful smells and fun- filled activities. I feel so lucky to be teaching here in Lebanon with all of my awesome art students! |
